ENOUGH OF BUREAUCRATIC STATEMENTS! IT’S TIME TO ACT

Enough, I say enough, enough of bureaucratic statements from those we entrust our lives. To whom much is given, they say much is expected. The reverse is it in my country. To whom much is given, less or nothing should be expected, except for too many bureaucratic statements. What do I mean by Bureaucratic statements? They are illogical, unfair and unpatriotic statements made by political office holders. This definition is based on the deceptions that grease the statements and the lackadaisical attitude of Nigerian politicians.

As a young boy, I grew up hearing some of these statements that make me and probably other Nigerians feel so humiliated. Many a time, I asked myself if we were enchanted to have entrusted our lives and wealth into the hands of these callous leaders. Hmm… What have we done to deserve this deception?

To be candid, I feel so lugubrious anytime I hear these statements:

– All hands must be on deck. I ask where are the hands and the decks?

– We are working on it. Working on what? We are not blind to see your works and successes

– Perpetrators will be brought to book. Which book? The book of life or what? How many perpetrators are behind bars?

– We commiserate with the families of those who lost their lives. Does life mean anything to our leader? Why must you wait for our soldiers and law enforcement officers to be killed before you begin to think of buying ammunition or why would a government that means so well for its followers wait for accidents to occur before constructing roads.

– We are on top of the situation. They are never at the bottom of the situation or in the situation. They run to the top for safety. They say they are on top of the situation today, another havoc is wrecked the next day… In fact, they were on top of the situation at the power house, until extremists overran the whole Northern part of Bornu.. Learned readers, is the village safe only if the King’s palace is safe? Is Bornu state safe only if the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) base and a few miles from the capital city are not under the Extremists’ control. How many residents of Bornu can move farther than 5km from Maiduguri without fear? They were on top of the situation after the kidnap of the Chibok school girls on the 14th of April 2014. Still on top of the situation, the Dapchi girls were kidnapped. This is indeed a shame.

Every government has something good to say at the end of its tenure. Yet, nothing has changed for good. It’s becoming worse rather than better. Then, where do they get these lies they tell at every press briefing.

– Do you know that every government has been constructing and endless Lagos Ibadan expressway since 1999?

– Do you know that all Nigerian political parties claim to have good manifestoes but they’ve always failed successfully?

How long shall we keep hearing these frivolous statements?

Enough of bureaucratic statements. It’s time to act.
