TROOPS BUST ILLEGAL ARMS FACTORY, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS IN KEBBI
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing syndicate and arrested two suspected gun makers during an intelligence led operation in Kebbi State.
Military authorities disclosed that the operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of a criminal network allegedly involved in producing and supplying locally fabricated firearms to terrorist groups operating within the state.
According to the military, the troops raided a secluded compound used by the suspects to evade security surveillance. A search of the premises led to the recovery of five locally fabricated AK 47 rifles, while two suspected arms manufacturers and suppliers were taken into custody.
The operation, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, forms part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics and dismantle criminal networks responsible for the proliferation of illegal weapons across the North West.
The suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing preliminary interrogation. Investigations have commenced to identify other members of the syndicate, uncover their financiers and collaborators, and dismantle the wider illegal arms supply chain.
The Theatre Command commended the troops and partner security agencies for their professionalism during the operation. It also appealed to residents of the North West to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, noting that public cooperation remains essential in the campaign against terrorism and other violent crimes.
