Troops Foil Bandits’ Ambush, Recover AK 47 Rifle in Plateau
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace in Plateau State have foiled an ambush by suspected bandits during a follow up operation in Langtang North Local Government Area of the state.
The operation followed the arrest and interrogation of a suspected bandit, who provided information about a weapon allegedly concealed at Nwur Village. Acting on the intelligence, troops escorted the suspect to the location to recover the weapon.
As the troops approached the suspected hideout, members of the criminal group reportedly opened fire on them. The troops responded, killing one of the attackers. The arrested suspect was also killed during the ensuing exchange of fire.
Following the encounter, troops conducted an exploitation of the area and recovered one AK 47 rifle, one AK 47 magazine and two rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition abandoned by the fleeing assailants.
Troops have continued search operations in the area in an effort to locate other members of the group.
Operation Enduring Peace reaffirmed its commitment to preventing criminal groups from operating freely and protecting residents across Plateau State.
