OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA: TROOPS NEUTRALISE TERRORIST, RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIMS IN SOKOTO AND ZAMFARA STATES
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), recorded successes in separate operations conducted on 26 September 2026, neutralising a suspected terrorist, recovering an AK 47 rifle and ammunition, and rescuing six kidnap victims in Sokoto and Zamfara States.
In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2, acting on credible intelligence about the presence of a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area, swiftly moved to assault the location on 26 September 2026. During the operation, the troops encountered an isolated suspected terrorist and neutralised him. Items recovered included one AK 47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform, as well as various tools and clothing.
Similarly, in Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 responded to information concerning an attempted kidnapping involving members of the Sarkin Samari’s family in Tsafe Local Government Area on the evening of the same day. Upon arrival at the scene, the troops engaged the terrorists with effective fire, forcing them to withdraw towards nearby bushes. During the operation, six kidnap victims were rescued and taken to a place of safety pending their reunification with their families.
The successes demonstrate the continued efforts of JTF NW OPFY troops to protect lives and property and counter terrorist activities across the North West.
