TROOPS RESCUE SIX MORE ABDUCTED VICTIMS AS SEARCH OPERATIONS CONTINUE IN BORNO
Troops of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI have rescued six more abducted persons during ongoing search and rescue operations in Borno State, as the military intensifies efforts to secure the release of victims held by terrorists.
Military authorities said the latest breakthrough followed sustained air and ground operations supported by actionable intelligence.
The rescued victims, comprising four adults and two infants, were found at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area. According to the military, they were among persons abducted from Mussa in Askira Uba Local Government Area during an attack in May.
The victims have been evacuated to a secure location where they are receiving medical attention, psychological support, and other humanitarian assistance ahead of their reunification with their families.
Troops also recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by fleeing terrorists while exploiting the insurgents' withdrawal routes. The military said the recovery reflected the pressure being mounted on the terrorists through sustained offensive operations.
Operation HADIN KAI stated that troops remain in active pursuit of the fleeing insurgents and are maintaining pressure across their escape routes to deny them freedom of movement.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to rescuing all remaining abducted persons and urged residents of the North East to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to security agencies.
It also advised members of the public to disregard unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic, assuring that operations to defeat terrorism and restore lasting peace across the region would continue.
